What are your favorite accessories to decorate with?
What accessories do you decorate with? Do you have a favorite go to accessory ?
We have lived in the same house for over thirty years without doing major renovations during that time.
Life got in the way! Working, kids, college, kids getting married, and a beautiful grandchild.
There you have it… thirty years in the nutshell!
Even though our house wasn’t up to date, I tried to keep up with the current decorating trends.
Our out-of-date house was always home, it was comfortable, cozy, and we were happy.
But… as you can imagine, as cozy as it was, we were way over-do for an update.
So recently, the renovation came and went, and we were thrilled with the results! That will be for another time…
After The Renovation
After the renovation, I wasn’t sure how I was going to style the rooms. The house felt different, so I kept the decor neutral until I knew what I wanted.

It didn’t take long until the neutral accessories started tugging at me visually. I felt it was time to add a little color by changing the pillows.
The living room needed a change the most, and just by changing the pillows, it changed the feel of a room.

When I looked at the artwork, the greens and browns were prominent colors in the room.

I had green chicken coups on one wall…that too is for another time.

This quartz lamp is a favorite of mine…with the brown and beige tones.

This lamp is another favorite. It came from a trip to Italy, a small island off the coast of Venice called Murano.

I considered the floral arrangement, but I was ready to change it if I needed to.
The goal was to use what I had. Over the years, I have collected a wide range of pillow covers and rugs. They are definitely, my go-to decorative accessory.

The throw is a gift from a good friend, which she brought back from a trip to Ireland. It is warm and cozy!

The pillows are from Pottery Barn a few years ago.

To me, adding color with accessories makes a room feel cozy.
Adding accessories to the pieces you love and the pieces that have been collected over time makes a room feel lived in and put together.
